SCORES.
the most asked question in this market has no official answer. this page holds everything that is actually published about tmua scoring, with sources, and states plainly where nothing is published. last checked: 7 august 2026.
the scale.
- scored 1.0 to 9.0, reported to one decimal place. since october 2024 you receive a single overall score. before 2024 there were three reported grades (paper 1, paper 2, overall) on a different scale. old and new scores are not directly comparable, and no official conversion between them has ever been published.
- uat-uk, the test administrator, states: 'UAT-UK does not provide any grade boundaries or a pass mark.'
- from the official explanation of results: a typical candidate scores around 4.5. roughly 10% of candidates score above 7.0.
- the official results documents publish score distributions as charts only. no raw-mark-to-score table has been released, for any year.
what each university actually publishes.
- durham. the only university with a published numeric threshold: 'If you achieve a score of 5.0 or above in TMUA you're automatically eligible to be considered for reduced offer' — one grade below the standard offer.
- warwick. no published offer threshold. a £2,000 entrance prize for scoring 7.5 or higher.
- imperial. no pass mark published: 'There is no pass or fail so you should aim to do the best you can.' imperial considers your first sitting only.
- cambridge. no numeric threshold published anywhere. scores are read in context by colleges.
- oxford. requires the tmua for 2027 entry for the first time. the mat is discontinued. no threshold published, and no historical oxford tmua data exists.
- lse. no published threshold.
- ucl. no published threshold.
every 'cambridge wants 6.5' or 'lse wants 7.0' you read on a prep site is an estimate. no such number has ever been published by a university. only durham has one, and it is 5.0.
the dates that decide everything.

- results: 16 november 2026.
